Do you actually need to watch the filler?
No. Every arc marked filler above was made for the anime only — it doesn't come from Eiichiro Oda's manga and doesn't affect the main story. Skip it freely; nothing you learn there is required later. The one exception some fans make is Z's Ambition, a light tie-in to the One Piece Film: Z movie — still skippable, but worth a look if you're a completionist.
What about the movies?
Most of the 15+ One Piece films are non-canon side stories and can be watched (or skipped) any time. A small handful — One Piece Film: Red among them — are considered semi-canon by Oda himself. We're building a dedicated movie-order guide; check back soon.
